Cloud Computing Project and Initiatives
Collocated with: IEEE International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications (AINA) 2013
Workshop Chair
Beniamino Di Martino, Second University of Naples, Italy
The Cloud computing represents one of the most challenging technological fields both for academic and business. Several projects are contributing to its rapid development, witnessing the great interest of the research community on one side, and of the users on the other. The workshop aims to be a forum for exchanging ideas on different Cloud computing related topics and finding synergies between projects tackling similar challenges. Getting insight in on-going Cloud-related projects will facilitate the exchanges of information among the researchers and will enhance the communication of research results, avoiding unwanted duplication. Despite different backgrounds and challenging different issues, several topics are relevant for all projects and strengthen their cooperation and joining the forces is a valuable exercise.
Main topics:
- Clouds federation
- Clouds interoperability
- Cloud programming
- Cloud computing standards
- HPC and cluster at demand
- Cloud at home
- Cloud delivery models
- Cloud-based applications
- Cloud middleware
- Cloud security
IMPORTANT DATES

Internet of Everything
Due to recent advancements in connection technologies and the widespread of smart devices, capable to communicate and exchange consistent loads of information, our environment is transforming into an “Internet of Everything” (IoE). The Internet of Everything has become a catch-all phrase to describe adding connectivity and intelligence to just about every device in order to give them special functions. However, this can be quite reductive, as IoE provides links not only among things, but also data, people and (business) processes. Evolution of current sensor and device networks, with strong interaction with people and social environments, will have a dramatic impact on everything from city planning, first responders, military, and health. Several Internet and connection-based paradigms fall under the IoE umbrella, such as:
- Internet of Things (IoT), which connects cyber, physical and biological worlds via smart sensors and devices strongly immersed in the surrounding environment.
- Internet of People (IoP), which considers links and connections among people, and their social interactions.
- Industrial Internet (II), more focused on data of interest for/coming from Industries.
While such areas cover many aspects of today's life, there is still the strong need to contextualize and integrate data and information coming from different networks and frameworks. Indeed, there is the need to provide a common ground for integrating information coming from heterogeneous sources. Such a shared ecosystem would allow for the interaction among data, sensor inputs and heterogeneous systems. In order to enable such an integrated framework, semantics become a fundamental component: semantic technologies are able to provide the necessary bridge between different data representations, and to solve terminology incongruence.

Internet Of Everything will provide a collection of 10-15 chapters (15 to 20 pages) including all sections such as references, authored by leading experts, offering an in-depth description of concepts, issues, challenges, innovations, and opportunities in the field of Internet of Things, Internet of People, Industrial Internet and related topics.
The book will be published by Springer, in the series Internet of Things - Technology, Communications and Computing
