Computer Science and Engineering Group

The Computer Science Group of Engineering Department of the Università degli Studi della Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" (formerly Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli) – SUN - includes 5 tenured positions (one Full Professor, three Associate Professors and 1 Assistant Professors), one PostDoc and 3 PhD student. It performs research on a number of fields including: Cloud Computing, Mobile Agents and Devices, Ubiquitous and Embedded Computing, High Performance Computing and Systems, Performance Evaluation and Simulation, Knowledge Engineering, Semantic Web and Web Services, Information Retrieval, Pattern Recognition, Data Mining, Formal Systems. It is involved in several international projects. Relevant skills/experience/technologies: SUN has gained expertise in Cloud Computing programming and security by coordinating and participating to many European and National research projects. It has investigated SLA based secure provisioning of Cloud services (SPECS, MUSA) and their optimal brokering by SLA composition and matching with application requirements, automatic deployment on heterogeneous infrastructures and monitoring (mOSAIC). It is also skilled on programming of embedded systems, which have been used to develop ubiquitous and context aware services, both in the smart energy application context (by the CoSSMic project) and to support the exploitation of cultural heritage providing users with personalized and location aware recommendation systems in national projects (mara.unina2.it).
